Preserve Custodian Josh Konovitz will be leading a field trip and work party to the Houghton Preserve on Wednesday, July 15, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, to work on glossy buckthorn removal. Participants will meet at Sprague Brook Park for carpooling to Houghton, where they will briefly go over the preserve management plan for invasive species, glossy buckthorn and poison sumac identification, site sensitivity and protection, and mechanical removal methods. Tools and light refreshments will be provided, but participants should come dressed and prepared for dealing with the thorny invasive on the preserve for a few hours. Thorn-proof clothing and leather gloves are recommended.

If you have questions or would like to sign up, call Josh directly at 716-201-0109.
