The Bruce Peninsula is a spine of dolostone between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada, that includes a section of the Niagara Es-carpment. This naturalist’s paradise harbors rare flora, fauna, and ecological commu-nities, and offers stunning scenery. Wayne Gall will lead the group to Oliphant Fen bordering the Lake Huron shore; the globally rare Great Lakes Coastal Meadow Marsh habitat at Petrel Point Nature Reserve; upland alvar at Saugeen Alvar Nature Reserve; coastal alvar at Singing Sands of Dorcas Bay on Lake Huron and Halfway Log Dump on Georgian Bay, both part of Bruce Peninsula National Park; and a boat cruise from To-bermory at the northern end of the peninsula to Flowerpot Island, a portion of Fathom Five National Marine Park.
Registrants should be aware of out-of-pocket expenses for two nights lodging; cruise fee of about $57/59 CDN (adult over 65/under 65); National Park daily entry fees $8.75/10.00 CDN; and personal transportation (car pooling encouraged).
Contact Wayne Gall at (716) 597-5663 or wkssgall.1976@gmail.com for information and to sign up. Wayne will inform registrants where to make reservations for lodging and the boat cruise.
