By the end of the summer, the South Branch gorge and the Sweetland Preserve are sometimes in need of extra attention and cleanup help. Again, all information for the spring clean-up hike listed above applies to this hike, although the water level is often at its lowest. This summer, NSSWNY will be conducting two cleanup hikes upstream in the South Branch of Cat-taraugus Creek to the Rodger Sweetland Preserve. On both of them, we will stage any trash we find dur-ing our hike upstream and then bag it for disposal on our return leg downstream. Bring water, lunch, felt-soled wading footwear or water shoes, gloves, and non-DDT insect repellent. Each hike will start at 10:00 AM from the Forty Road parking lot of the NYSDEC Zoar Valley Multiple Use

2026 TBA Join us a we kayak the beautiful Oswayo Creek in Portville, New York, with a stop at our newest sanctuary, the Oswayo Creek Preserve. An easy, flatwater paddle, the two-hour trip will be led by Preserve Custodians Bob and Holly Fischer. We’ll stop for dinner afterward at Sprague’s Maple Farms.
